Course description:

Description of the course:
This course is designed to refresh students’ memory in the 4 language skills through displaying a wide variety of authentic text types and challenging tasks. The reading texts have been adapted from variety of real sources (newspapers, magazines, and the internet) and have chosen to stimulate students to react and respond effectively with confidence as each unit contains grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. In brief, the course aims to increase students’ knowledge, vocabulary and improve their skills equally in the 4 English language skills.

Course Aims:

Course objectives:  The course aims to enable students to:
  • Activate the language skills through real active communication (in class).
  • Stimulate interest to love and enhance the study of English. 
  • Revise a great amount of previous vocabulary students have already learnt.
  • Help students increase and extend their vocabulary to consolidate the writing activities.
  •  Develop students’ reading skills through reading interesting subjects and motivating tasks.
  • Revise the main grammatical structures in English students previously learnt.
  • Do variety of writing activities to improve the students’ writing skills.
  • Build new words by adding prefixes and suffixes and some other processes of lexical derivation.
  • Do writing exercises on spelling, punctuation and connecting expressions.
  • Know what to say in typical social situations.

Learning Outcomes: 
At the end of the course students are expected to be able to:
  • Speak English, to some extent, with confidence.
  • Use and practice the language in different social situations. 
  • Get better reading comprehension skills to improve their reading abilities to read clearly and carefully.
  • Master the given rules of grammar.
  • Do written tasks free from grammatical mistakes.
  • Achieve noticeable progress in the 4 English language skills.
