Ethics For IT TECH 2106

Course description:

This  course concerns  with the  ethical  dilemmas  that  exist  where  human beings,  information  objects,  and  social  computing  technologies interact. The course will stress ethical decision-making as well as legal and social responsibility in connection with technology-related concerns. Issues such as security, crime, privacy and intellectual property will be examined in the context of computer use. 

Course Aims:

This course aims to enable the student to:
  • Have a fuller, richer, deeper understanding of the social impact of computers and the ethical issues in human activities affected by computers.
  • Be prepared  for living in a computerized world and perhaps working as a professional in the computing field.

Course outcomes:

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:
  • Understand many of the key ethical, legal and social issues related to information technology.
  • Understand how to interpret and comply with ethical principles, laws, regulations and institutional policies.  
  • Understand the essential issues related to information security, how to take precautions and use techniques and tools to defend against computer crimes.
