Course description:

In addition to comprehensive coverage of dental management of patients with special needs and medically compromised patients, this course covers diseases of pulp and periodontium and endodontic requirements on both primary and secondary teeth and teeth with incomplete root growth, surgical procedures and injuries of teeth in children, diagnostics and therapy of soft tissues diseases in children (viral, bacterial, fungus and specific diseases)and periodontal diseases and therapy of periodontal diseases.

Course Aims:

The course aims to increase students' knowledge in pediatric dentistry so the students can manage differnet pediatric dental cases .

Course outcomes:

After completing this course, the students should be able to: 
  • Diagnose and treat caries on primary and permanent teeth in children using materials of new generation.
  • Treat complicated caries using biological methods, treat pulpitis and periodontitis on primary and secondary teeth.
  • Extract primary and secondary teeth according to indications and apply adequate antibiotic protection.
  • Diagnose and treat soft tissue diseases (particularly primary viral diseases), offer first aid in case of teeth and periodontal injuries.
  • Recognize and manage or refer pediatric patients with special needs.
