Pedodontics I - Theoretical TDNT 4264

Course description:

This course deals with the following titles: specificities of dental work with children, development and pathology of development of primary and secondary teeth, caries and complications of caries; caries therapy, materials for temporary and permanent fillings in peadodontics, , diagnosis and dental treatment planning, Behavior management with child and Principles of Preventive Dentistry, Systemic and Topical Fluorides.

Course Aims:

This course aims to introduce the field of pediatric dentistry to prepare them tohe diagnose and prevent of diseases.

Course outcomes:

After completing of this course, students should be able to:
  • Differentiate between primary and permanent dentition
  • Analyse a child's special needs with respect to oral and dental care and adapt the treatment.
  • Meet and give preventative cariologic advice and care, adapted to a growing individual and the adult present.
  • Understand the patient’s need for behavior modification.
  • Formulate a treatment plan for this age group.
  • Acquire enough psychomotor skills to be able to treat children in the clinic without any reservations.
