Course description:

The main topics of this course are the non-surgical management of different types of periodontitis, including new treatment techniques, the management of furcation defects and perio-endo lesions, and the use of antimicrobials.

Course Aims:

The aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge needed for diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the periodontium.

Course outcomes:

At the end of this course students should:
  • Appreciate the range of periodontal treatment options available and indications for each.
  • Understand the objectives of non-surgical therapy and how this relates to current practice.
  • Understand the indications for, and limitations of, antimicrobial therapy.
  • Understand the etiology and management of perio-endo lesions.
  • Understand the options for the management of furcation lesions.
