Course description:

This course, together with a complementary theoretical  course, is directed at preparing the student with skills in the diagnosis and treatment of carious lesions necessary for patientcare in operative dentistry.

Course Aims:

This course aims to provide a beginning student with basic knowledge about cavity preparation and restorative techniques for amalgam and resin composite.

Course outcomes:

After completing the course, students should be able to:
  • Draw dental anatomy & Dental lesions.
  • Identify Black's classification of carious cavities.
  • Demonstrate instruments and their use.
  • Identifyequipment and instruments used during cavity preparation Illustration of the steps of cavity.
  • Preparation of class I cavity in lower and upper molars.
  • Preparation class II in lower and upper molars.
  • Preparing class V cavities.
  • Preparation of class III cavities.
  • Preparation of class IV cavities.
