Maxillofacial Surgery II - Clinical PDNT 5174

Course description:

This course is considered as a clinical complementary courses of the previous surgery courses during which the student will develop his skills of simple and advanced maxillofacial surgical procedures and obtain more experience of all aspects of the field. During this course also, the student should have a basic knowledge of different maxillofacial procedures by observing and assisting of many major maxillofacial operations.

Course Aims:

This course aims to equip students with the basic, clinical experience of different maxillofacial procedures, and to develop their clinical skills regarding simple and advanced maxillofacial surgical procedures.

Course outcomes:

After completing this course, students should be able to:
  • Manage patients with developmental deformity of the facial skeleton.
  • Manage patients presenting with oro-facial malignancy.
  • Increase competence in the peri-operative care of the maxillofacial surgical patient.
  • Perform more simple and advanced surgical procedure to improve his clinical experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in advanced surgical procedures: orthognathic surgery, dental and maxillofacial trauma, cranio-facial anomalies, implant dentistry and procedures of alveolar bone augmentation.
  • Manage different types of complications that may occur during or after surgical procedures.
  • Assist in managing patients indicated for major maxillofacial surgeries.
  • Manage complications that may occur post advanced maxillofacial surgical procedures.
