Removable Prosthodontics V - Clinical PDNT 5155

Course description:

This course is designed to give the student clinical experience in the comprehensive management of a variety of cases in Removable Partial and Complete Dentures, emphasis will be placed on over dentures, single dentures, immediate and transitional temporary denture, relining and rebasing procedures, attachments and surveyed crowns. The student will demonstrate proficient skills in his/her clinical treatment with minimum assistance from his/her instructor.

Course Aims:

This course is designed to help the students to develop clinical and patient management skills as part of the student clinical program and to prepare the student to perform in the more advanced comprehensive care environment of the dental program.

Course outcomes:

The student should acquire a knowledge and understanding of:
  • Duplicating of complete denture.
  • Management of Flabby Ridges.
  • Combination syndrome.
  • Advanced resorption of the residual alveolar ridge.
  • The suction mechanism of complete denture. 
  • Management of some problematic complete denture cases.
  • Complete denture occlusion.
  • The geriatric complete denture patient.
  • Palatal development & classification of cleft.
  • Prosthetic management of acquired maxillary defects.
  • Prosthetic management of jaw fractures.
  • Immediate denture.
  • Maxillofacial stents.
  • Radiotherapy prostheses.
