Orthodontics I - Preclinical PDNT 4156

Course description:

This course provides the students with basic knowledge of orthodontic lab instruments and materials. In this course the students learn to handle with orthodontic lab wires, acrylic resin.

Course Aims:

This course aims to provide the student with knowledge dental appliances, their indications and fabrication.

Course outcomes:

After completion of this course, students will be able to:: 
  • Fabricate a study cast according to international guidelines.
  • Differentiate between different types of orthodontic appliances and their components.
  • Fabricate two  removable appliances, e. g. active plate and activator.
  • Study model fabrication.
  • Bending orthodontic wires different sizes.
  • Fabricate removable orthodontic appliances (plate or functional).
