Course description:

This course contains clinical experience that involves the treatment of dentate and edentulous patients that require extensive treatment. Patients are matched to the student’s expanding abilities and will progressively increase in complexity. Patients will require interdepartmental treating planning, fixed and removable restorations, and implants.The clinical component comprises of clinical sessions held and utilized to practice common clinical procedures for patients examination, motivation, and treatment with conventional removable partial denatures.    

Course Aims:

The course aims to equip the students to be in a better position to render a scientifically acceptable diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment for his/her patients, requiring removable partial denture.

Course outcomes:

After completing the course, students should be able to do:
  • Advise different treatment options and explain each treatment. 
  • Treat unaided edentulous patients with complete dentures in a modern, appropriate, effective and approved way. 
  • Provide treatment with traditional complete dentures, immediate dentures, tooth-supported and implant-borne hybrid dentures as well as relining, rebasing and repair of complete dentures. 
  • Diagnose systemic and local problems which have to be taken care of before in the treatment. 
  • Communicate with the dental technicians and give the right instructions for the technical work.
  • Communicate with other dentists and health care personnel, and should also be capable of instructing the patient of how he or she should take care of the prosthesis. 
  • History taking ,detailed examination.
  • Discussion the design on the primary cast.
  • Mouth preparation.
  • Final impression taking.
  • Recording jaw relation.
  • Delivery of partial denture.
