Oral Surgery I - Clinical PDNT 4149

Course description:

This clinical  course includes practical application of basic surgical principles and skills, including  gathering of complete and accurate medical and dental history, managing medically compromised patients, extra oral and intraoral examination, preparation of a comprehensive treatment plan, identification of surgical instruments, dentist and patient position during extraction, types of sutures, different techniques of suturing and other general skills (measurement  of blood pressure and blood glucose level).

Course Aims:

This course aims to prepare students for the clinical practice of simple oral surgical procedures in the next semester.

Course outcomes:

After completion of this course, students should be able to:
  • Obtain detailed information about medical and dental history from the patients.
  • Perform a comprehensive and systematic examination, including detailed extra oral and intraoral examination.
  • Identify surgical instruments and their applications in clinical practice.
  • Master different suturing techniques with the emphasis on techniques that are commonly used in the oral cavity.
  • Master other skills related to clinical practice (measurement of Blood pressure and blood glucose level).
