Periodontology IV - Clinical PDNT 4146

Course description:

The course covers the aetiology, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases. Also it covers scaling and root planning, simple surgical technique for pocket reduction, frenectomy and crown lengthening on animal jaws or humans under supervision.

Course Aims:

This course aims to enable the students to practice "simple" surgical techniques in periodontal therapy.

Course outcomes:

At the end of this course, the students should be able to:
  • Discuss the benefits of periodontal surgery with patients.
  • Manage vertical bone defects predictably.
  • Design surgical procedures needed for periodontal treatment.
  • Carry out simple surgical procedures (Gingivectomy, crown lengthening, pocket reduction, root coverage, root resections, frenectomy) on animal jaws or humans under supervision.
