Endodontics III - Clinical PDNT 4143

Course description:

The clinical practice of Endodontics should extend over at least two years. Although endodontics should be taught as a separate subject, in the clinical situation it should be practiced as an integral part of the overall management of the patient. Ideally, a minimum of 12 teeth should be treated – this should include at least two molars and two-rooted premolar tooth. Where possible, students should provide suitable restorations for the teeth that they have treated endodontically. The patient’s clinical record should include provision for the recording and marking of all relevant stages and details of the root canal treatment.

Course Aims:

This course aim to start the already skilled root canal shaping and cleaning on patient and to enable student to treat all common endodontic diseased teeth correctly.

Course outcomes:

In this course student should be able to
  • Master the communication with patient.
  • Master using the diagnostic tools and the art of diagnosis.
  • Correctly diagnose the various types of endodontic problems and how to resolve them.
  • Manage patient anxiety and administer anesthesia related to pulpal pain.
  • Apply isolation measurement including the rubber dam in patient mouth.
  • Manage to carry root canal steps and restoration in the oral environment.
  • Complete root canal therapy and retreatment of root canals in all but the most difficult of cases.
