Course description:
This is the second course offered in Removable Prosthodontics. It consists of the practical components concerned with the procedures involved in the construction of removable partial dentures. The course acquaints the students with the principles and sequence of technical procedures involved in the fabrication of removable partial dentures.During the course, various exercises that simulate the clinical treatment of the patient are also employed.
Course Aims:
The purpose of the course is to continue to prepare students for the examination, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of the edentulous patient requiring uncomplicated treatment.
Course outcomes:
After completing the course, students should be able to demonstrate:
- Palatal plate construction.
- Primary impression of dentulous cast.
- Pouringthe impression & trimming of the cast.
- Make wire clasp on the casts.
- Make interim denture base on the cast.
- Acrylic resin RBD construction.
- Special tray fabrication for partially edentulous patient.
- Wireclasp construction.
- Trail denture base fabrication for partially edentulous patient with occlusal rim
- Mounting the partially edentulous casts on articulator.
- Setting of artificial teeth (need two sections) first section.
- Waxing up, flasking, finishing and polishing.
- Skeleton RPD construction.
- Design the RPD framework by surveyor.
- Waxing, Casting, finishing and polishing RPD framework.
- Setting of the teeth, flasking and finishing.
