Course description:

The course focus on developing the skills of carving different teeth out of wax blocks. This practice is assumed to help students recalling the details of tooth morphology and improving their manual skills. Dental terminology will be defined and related to oral structures through the utilization of dental model devices; computer assisted learning and interactive laboratory sessions.

Course Aims:

This course aims to improve the practical skills and reinforce scientific information relating to oral and dental anatomy. This course aims to introduce students to the exact standards and basic anatomical features of the mouth and teeth.

Course outcomes:

After completing this course, students should be able to:
  • Draw the teeth from five aspects.
  • Understand all landmarks for anterior  teeth from five aspects.
  • Practice on using different dental notation systems for both dentitions and to understand the concept of dental formula as a summary for mammalian dentitions.
  • Distinguish between (incisors, canines, premolars) upper and lower.
  • Draw the teeth (incisors, canines, premolars ) upper and lower.
  • Carve the teeth on the large volume of wax (incisors, canines, premolars) upper and lower.
