Course description:

The course will cover the nutrients needed for the proper function of human systems, types of diets and how to plan diets. The importance of nutrients for the human body systems (e.g. immune system, endocrine system). The course will give information about the software used to plan diets.

Course Aims:

  • Understand the importance of nutrients for human body’s proper function. 
  • Participate in discussions about designing diets plans in different situation.
  • Selecting the proper food containing the proper nutrient in different cases.

Course outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  • Create a meal plan that meets appropriate nutritional guidelines. 
  • Describing the suitable food for affected persons.
  • Calculate total caloric intake.
  • Explain the role physical fitness in the maintenance of a healthy body and how physical fitness and nutrition work synergistically to maintain health. 
  • Understand the relationships between nutrition and disease.
