Nutrition Assessment - Lab NUTR 2010

Course description:

This course introduces you to assessment of nutritional status of groups and individuals. Limitations of the various methods used for collecting dietary information will be discussed.
You will learn about dietary analysis and evaluation using both qualitative and quantitative methodology. Techniques to measure energy expenditure and biochemical assessment, will also be covered. Additionally, you will learn about assessment of body composition using a variety of techniques. Interpretation of data will be applied through case study examples with at risk groups.

Course Aims:

The course aims to:
  • You will compare different methods for collection (24 hour recall and weighed food record) 
  • interpretation of dietary information, using both quantitative . and qualitative methods, and discuss the limitations associated with these techniques .

Course outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, student will be able to:
  • analyses information and explain important elements of nutrition assessment.
  • Knowledge of the scale of anthropometric method  and how they are measured.
  • How to use tools and Metrology and employ them in the process of nutritional.
