Course description:

This course defines the need for management; the scientific theory in studying management; the importance of management; evaluation of management theory and management schools; also management evaluation and characteristics of poor management. Moreover, the course provides a critical analysis of the different aspects of this thought and how these aspects are linked to behavioral patterns prevailing in industrialized societies. 

Course Aims:

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
  • Understand the meaning, role and professional nature of management.
  • Introduce the students to the basic concepts, levels, functions, history, systems and principles of the management process.
  • Describe and explain the management schools and theories.
  • Understand what management by objectives (MBO) means, management reengineering.
  • Develop modeling skills such as decision-making, communications, motivation, centralization and delegation of authority.

Course outcomes:

By the successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  • Get involved in the nature of management as an art and a science and gaining a professional experience from the revolution of management schools.
  • Develop modeling skills.
  • Follow the intellectual development of management theory through history
  • Being adapted to the main feathers of managerial position of the organization chart.
