Course description:

Small business (Micro enterprise management) has special nature concerning the financial and administrative capabilities. The students will get the managerial skills to organize the small business, limited resources management from the view point of cost management and the maximum utility of these resources are included. They will learn about the art of managing micro enterprises which employ between 10-100 people.

Course Aims:

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
  • Define an entrepreneur & small business owner.
  • Study and discuss the variety of personality characteristics that contribute to entrepreneurial success in small business.
  • Understand the relationship between innovation and business. 
  • Understand the different legal forms of fims.
  • Differentiate between small business & corporate business.
  • Determine the role of small business in economic development.
  • Recognize entrepreneurial start-up, marketing, financial management.
  • Recognize the concept of social entrepreneurship.
  • Recognize the concept of business incubation.

Course outcomes:

By the successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  • The students would be able to build on personal as well as external resources with a view to successfully launching and subsequently managing their enterprises.
  • Students would have not only a definite idea as to which support/ developmental agency to look up and for what purpose, but also the necessary know-how and wherewithal for accessing their help.
  • Student would have basic skills in operations, finance, and marketing and human resource management.
  • Student would understand the different aspects of entrepreneurship.
