Course description:

Examination of some of the moral problems that arise with regard to the responsibilities of various segments of the business community – including employers, management and stockholders – to one another, to the consumer, and to society at large.

Course Aims:

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
  • Characterize business, society and their relationship to each other.
  • Identify factors leading to the criticism of business. 
  • Differentiate social responsibility and responsiveness. 
  • Examine the role of ethics in business.
  • Address ethics by individuals, groups, and corporations and the relations between them.

Course outcomes:

By the successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  • Identify ethical issues that arise in everyday business and social situations. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of ethical principles. 
  • Apply ethical reasoning and critical analysis to real-world scenarios. 
  • Formulate reasonable solutions to ethical dilemmas. 
  • To read and make a critique of texts on Business Ethics. 
  • To develop expository and argumentation skills, both orally and in writing.
