Course description:

The primary focus of this course is on Data Warehousing and its applications to business intelligence. The concentration will be on topics like: requirements gathering for data warehousing, data warehouse architecture, dimensional model design for data warehousing, physical database design for data warehousing, extracting, transforming, and loading strategies, introduction to business intelligence, design and development of business intelligence applications, expansion and support of a data warehouse.  

Course Aims:

  • To teach the students the data warehouse concepts.
  • To teach the students the differences between OLTP and OLAP.
  • To teach the students how to analyze, design, and implement data warehouse projects.
  • To teach the students how to link data warehouse repositories to business intelligence applications for generating statistical reports that help in supporting the decisions of the top managements.
