Land and Cadastral Information Management GISE 5306

Course description:

This course will cover the management of land as a resource and the need for land information; types of land information systems (LIS), GIS taxonomy, relations of GIS and LIS; the concept, aims and nature of cadastre, types of cadastres; aims and functions of fiscal cadastres.

Course Aims:

The aim of the course is to provide students with 
  • The knowledge about the nature and basic principles of functioning land cadastre. 
  • The knowledge and experience of cadastral surveying will be obtained. 
  • The course will be helpful for students to understand the role and importance of land cadastre and land information systems for the land administration.

Course outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the student should:
  • Understand the necessity for the land cadastre and for the land information systems in society and is able to explain it
  • Will have the knowledge about the theoretical basis of creation and functioning land cadastres and is able to explain it, 
  • Be able to seek for the information from the land cadastre and from the other land information systems and is able to present this information in meaningful form;
  •  Will understand the basic trends of development land cadastres and land information systems and is able to explain it; - is able to compile a cadastral survey fail.
