Course description:

The course covers:

  • Definition of  Medical Instrumentation, Generalized Medical Instrumentation System,
  • Signal Conditioning, BI Operational Modes,
  • Measurement Constraints,
  • Measurement Input Sources, Design Criteria and Process for biomedical instruments,
  • Medical sensors: Bio-potential electrodes, Bio-chemical sensors, Pressure sensor, Conductivity sensor, Temperature sensor, Flow sensor, Ultrasonic sensor.
  • Application for medical sensor in BME.

Course Aims:

By the completion of the course the student should be able to:

  • Describe techniques used to display, process, characterize, and analyze bio signals.
  • Develop the ability of self-learning.
  • Choose sensors and design instruments to monitor a physical phenomenon
  • Recognize the principles of electrical safety and the potential hazards.
