Course description:

This course focuses on integration applications, including volumes and arc length; techniques of integration including: integration by parts, trigonometric substitutions, partial fractions; L'Hospital's Rule; Improper Integrals; Also covers infinite sequences and series: definition and tests for convergence, power series, Taylor series with remainder, parametric equations and Maclaurin series.

Course Aims:

The aims of this course are to explore the following points: 
  •  Improve mathematical skills, further understanding of mathematics and its applications to Engineering. 
  •  Developing concepts in mathematics and apply them to problems using analytical techniques. 

Course outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  •  Master various methods of integration and skills. 
  •  Acquire basic skills needed to apply integration techniques to solve a wide range of integration problems. 
  •  Develop a basic understanding of infinite series and their applications. 
  •  Use integration to find area between two curves, volume, arc length of a curve and area of a surface of revolution.
