Course description:

This course is a complementary to a course of fundamental nursing-1, and designed to provide the students with necessary and basic knowledge of nursing science, which will help them to understand the concept of holistic health care from its all  aspects, as well as the ability to plan and implement nursing processes in order to meet patients and focuses as well as to learn a range of nursing skills, which include the use of oxygen administration skills, and learn the principles of sterilization and prepare for interventions surgical and enter operating rooms and methods of proper handling of the body when moving the patient and the ways to provide nursing care before the transfer, during and after surgical procedures and methods of wound care refills and the types of stitches and how they work, removal and insertion methods of urinary catheter and Ryle's tube, giving enemas giving medications and different types of injections for adults and children.

Course Aims:

The purpose of this course is to offer different concepts and skills will be taught to students about: efficient usage of body mechanics, & passive range of motion exercises, will help students to develop an understanding of proper ambulatory technique for patient’s condition care focus on preoperative care & postoperative care, wound care, promotion of urinary, bowel elimination, medication administration,  oxygen therapy, infection control, gastrointestinal intubation.

Course outcomes:

At the end of this course, the student can be able to:
  • How to administer oxygen therapy.
  • Able to move and transfer the patient. 
  • Giving pre and post-operative care. 
  • Knowing all types of surgical sutures  and how to remove it.
  • How to deal with the sterile objects and know all sterilization methods. 
  • Administer all GI tubes and insertion of urinary catheterization. 
  • Able to give medication according to the rules and regulation.
  • Able to give different types of injections as well as giving IV medication.
