Course description:

This course is designed to provide the fresh students, regardless of their previous biological courses or attitudes toward sciences, with the information needed for a clear understanding of biology. It will teach the student to make daily choices in maintaining life and health. In addition, the student will be able to make decisions that will protect our global life-support systems as well as other living organisms present in this world.

Course Aims:

The aim of this course is to provide the nursing students with the essential knowledge of different aspects of biochemistry, cell structure and function, human evolution, genetics, theoretical background about the different reactions happen inside the human body in the normal situations. This course will acquaint students with the fundamental terms, concepts, and principles of human biology.

Course outcomes:

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
  • Demonstrate mastery of the fundamental concepts of biology at the genetic, molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, and organismal level.
  • Be familiar with the concepts of the human development.
  • Make daily choices in maintaining life and health for his/her clients.
  • Develop an understanding of the main body fluids.
