Course description:

This course is a complementary to a course of fundamental nursing-1, and designed to help the students to apply and practice necessary and basic knowledge of nursing science, in addition, the ability to plan and implement nursing processes and practice a range of nursing skills, which include the use of oxygen administration skills, principles of sterilization,  prepare for interventions surgical intervention and enter operating rooms, methods of proper handling of the body when moving the patient and the ways to provide nursing care before the transfer, during and after surgical procedures and methods of wound care refills and the types of stitches and how they work, removal and insertion methods of urinary catheter and Ryle's tube, giving enemas giving medications and different types of injections for adults and children.

Course Aims:

The purpose of this course is acquire the student of different skills will be taught to students about: efficient usage of body mechanics, & passive range of motion exercises, will help students to develop an understanding of proper ambulatory technique for patient’s condition care focus on preoperative care & postoperative care, wound care, promotion of urinary, bowel elimination, medication administration,  oxygen therapy, infection control, gastrointestinal intubation.

Course outcomes:

At the end of this course, the student can be able to:
  • Apply  and administer oxygen therapy safely.
  • Able to move and transfer the patient. 
  • Giving pre and post-operative care. 
  • Applying all types of surgical sutures  and how to remove it.
  • Dealing with the sterile objects safely. 
  • Oriented and know all sterilization methods. 
  • Administer all GI tubes and insertion of urinary catheterization. 
  • Able to give medication according to the rules and regulation.
  • Able to give different types of injections as well as giving IV medication.
