Course description:

This course describe nutrition, nutrients, foods functions, ingestion, digestion, absorption, metabolism and elimination. Also, explain functions and roles in the body, nursing role in nutritional care. This course focus on the relationship between nutrition and health and disease. The effect of malnutrition either overnutrition or undernutrition on health. Nutritional diseases and therapeutic nutrition.
Also nutrients functions, interactions, symptoms of excess and deficiencies.
Nutritional assessment: anthropometric measurements, biochemical investigation, clinical symptoms, and dietary history.
Nutritional knowledge, education and health care quality.

Course Aims:

The course aims to:
  • Establish roles of nurse in nutritional care
  • Establish nutritional knowledge and practice in health care system
  • Identify the relationship between nutrition and health and disease
  • Identify symptoms of nutrients deficiencies or excesses 
  • Assessment of nutritional status
