Sketching ARCH 2107

Course description:

This course  develops students’ ability to express ideas using various tools, and essentially without the use of engineering ones, as well as the course enhances the student's sense of reflecting light, drawing shadow, adjusting sizes, choosing the nature of the material, pulling in various color, shape, space and texture.Practical exercises to be accomplished within the studio lectures which would primarily involve training on a variety of models, and to express them in various freehand drawing tools using pinciles, ink pen, wood and water colors, in addition to using other materials and methods dedicated to score the objectives of this course.

Course Aims:

This course aims to: 
  • Providing the students with skills associated with freehand sketches of drawing the forms and shapes while taking into account the scale, in addition to understanding how to draw two and/or the three-dimensional sketches.
  • Introducing to the students the principles of how to draw a perspective.
  • Enhancing the students’sense of light and shadow, sizes and the definition of the principles of drawing a perspective, through the lens of excercises on a variety of models, or express them in various freehand drawing tools.

Course outcomes:

The students upon completion of his study to this course are able to:
  • Draw manual forms and sizes.
  • Gain practical skills associated with freehand drawings using colors of different kinds.
