Course description:

This course is designed to develop student's understanding of the role of information systems and accounting functions in business. Where is the development of student skills in computer use in the accounting field, enable students to understand the accounting information system in a computer based environment in order to facilitate the achievement of organization goals.

Course Aims:

  • This course offers students the principles of computer applications in accounting and full accountability for the application session using a computer. 
  • Access to accounting software 
  •  Developing skills to prepare financial statements using spreadsheets. 
  • How to resolve accounting issues using functions in Microsoft Excel worksheets.
  •  Practical application to the trial balance, trading account and profit and loss account using the worksheets in Excel. 
  •  Working on El-Asel accounting software.

Course outcomes:

At the completion of the subject, students should be able to: 
  • Processing and design journal using a computer.
  • Preparation and designing of general ledgers, and updating its balance.
  • Preparation and design of the trial balance balances and totals using a computer. 
  • Preparation and designing of the journal, ledger (the American way)using a computer.
  • Preparation and design of profit and loss account using a computer. 
  • Preparation and design of balance sheet, financial position using computer.
  • Preparation and design of income statement using computer.
